Llanishen Rugby Club is a welsh rugby union team based on the borders of Cardiff in Llanishen, which is just a 10 minute car journey from Cardiff city town centre. Currently based in the Division One East WRU league the club has progressed in the recent years after being promoted from Division Three a couple years back. Llanishen is a feeder club for Cardiff Blues and has had several players’ progress in their rugby careers and has made it into the Blues’ squad. The club has two men’s senior teams, a U16 team and a U16 women’s team who all do the red and black striped shirt proud.
We are a social club who has a very loyal and consistent fan base that come and show their support week in and week out. Our ties with the Cardiff Blues team allows us to provide the teams with special training days with guest appearances from the likes of Sam Warburton. The club’s social bar is also home to a number of events and many locals come to play william hill bingo on a fortnightly basis. We host karaoke and show all the latest sport on our TV’s.
The club has had its place in Rugby Union since 1962 when the club was first formed by Aubrey Evans and Gus Kitchen. The club had been established before the First World War but it wasn’t until 1962 when it really took off. 50 years later the club has gone from one senior men’s team to hosting 4 teams including, with plans to start up a smaller junior team. The clubhouse has had over £25,000 worth of investment into it making it the vibrant and social hub of the club it is today.
Here at Llanishen Rugby Club we are very proud of our links with some key businesses in the sporting industry. We have had help from the likes of Sky Bet who has allowed us to host several events at our club house.
Due to our close links with Sky we have been offered Bet365 bonuses to give to our players and local supporters. If you wish to join our friendly and bubbly social club please either get in touch or come along any match day or evening where we will make you feel most welcome!
